Do You Need Experience Before Taking PSM I?
There are no formal education or work-experience prerequisites for the PSM I assessment, and Scrum.org does not require candidates to attend a training course before purchasing an assessment attempt.
Official Professional Scrum Master training is designed for participants who want guided, interactive learning before demonstrating their knowledge through the PSM I assessment. Reading the current Scrum Guide before training is recommended.

*Participants completing an official Professional Scrum Master course receive a password for one PSM I assessment attempt. If the first attempt is taken within 14 days of receiving the password and the participant does not achieve the 85% passing score, Scrum.org provides a second attempt at no additional cost.
PSM I Certification Does Not Require Renewal
Once earned, Scrum.org Professional Scrum certifications do not expire and do not require annual renewal fees or ongoing renewal submissions.
